Ochopee Post Office
The tiny Ochopee Post Office started its life as a tool shed but has housed the smallest post office in the United States since 1953 (it replaced the original 1932 post office, which burned down). Sitting all by itself along the roadside, it’s an unmistakable landmark as you drive through the western Everglades on the Tamiami Trail. And yes, the postmaster goes through the front door, flips open the counter, and turns around and sits down: that’s all the space there is!
